NYSMEA - NYBTA

Explore the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area

May 1, 2004

9:00am to noon

Learn how to motivate your students

by taking them on a Shoreline Field Experience.

Coordinated with the New York State Science Standards

We will explore the flora and fauna and show easy methods for measuring common physical parameters with your class.  - All done from a boardwalk platform, which winds through the marsh and other shoreline environments.  Appropriate for all levels. Some hardy volunteers will be asked to help us draw a seine net through the shallows.

Bring along a bucket if you want to bring specimens back to school.  Dress warm for the day, bring hat, sunglasses, bug spray, suntan lotion.  In the case of inclement weather notice of trip cancellation will be made at 8:00am at 516 541 6002

Trip leader:  Lou Siegel, adjunct professor SUNY Farmingdale & Dowling College
