Happy and Healthy New Year!!

***************************************************************************************
Join us for the first great meeting of 2008!
Lisa Breslof will again host a full day at the American Museum of Natural History
on January 13th.

We hope that you will begin the day by attending our Directors meeting
at 11:00 AM
in the Portrait Room located to the left as you enter the main rotunda
from the great staircase at the main entrance of the museum.  This is when we plan
the future activities and conduct the business of the association.  Become active
now as an achievable, fun New Year's resolution!  We especially need people to
help in all areas of planning for the June conference.
(We even have some great pizza and soda!)

The Educational Enrichment activities begin at 1:00, January 13th
Meet in the main rotunda under the dinosaurs.
1:30 Fantastic Water Exhibit  http://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/water/
followed by
2:30 IMAX Show  Dinosaurs Alive! a stunning large-format film, has its New York
premiere engagement at the American Museum of Natural History on Saturday,
May 19, 2007. Narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas, the
film follows current American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) paleontologists
as they hunt for dinosaur remains in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia and at Ghost Ranch
in New Mexico and uncover evidence that the descendents of dinosaurs still walk
(or fly) among us. This 40-minute film shot, in part, at the Museum features the earliest
dinosaurs of the Triassic Period and the creatures of the Cretaceous Period brought to
life through the magic of realistic computer-generated animation.  Dinosaurs Alive!
shows AMNH paleontologists Mike Novacek and Mark Norell and an inspired team of
dedicated young graduate students on an expedition to the Gobi Desert. Following in the
footsteps of AMNH scientist and adventurer Roy Chapman Andrews, Novacek and Norell
have been making annual treks to the Gobi every summer for the past 17 years. The film
also features rare and beautifully preserved footage of Andrews-believed to be the
inspiration for the Indiana Jones character-on one of his five expeditions there in the 1920s.
Andrews and his team uncovered hundreds of dinosaur remains, including the first
Velociraptor and dinosaur nests with eggs.
and then if you are still up to it -

We are looking for approximately 15-20 middle (6-8) or high school educators (9-12) to beta test the resource

their classroom of the enactment of the beta lessons, and 3) finally, participate in a concluding session with
a project researcher to critically assess the beta unit.  Both the introductory and wrap up sessions will occur
at the Institute of Marine & Coastal Sciences at Ru! ! tgers University located in New Brunswick, NJ.  Our grant
